2016 Great Britain “First Polymer” £10 Banknote (Jane Austen) – Pick 395a – PMG 35 Choice Very Fine – AA01 Prefix
Offered for sale is a PMG-certified Great Britain Bank of England polymer £10 banknote from the modern Series G design, featuring Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse and Jane Austen on the reverse. This popular type is widely collected from the Bank of England’s transition to polymer and is valued for its distinctive design and high-security construction.
This note is commonly catalogued and offered within the hobby as a “2016” issue and referenced as Pick 395a, however the polymer £10 was first issued into circulation on 14 September 2017, replacing the earlier paper £10 design.
The design combines the transparent window elements on the front with the celebrated Jane Austen portrait and literary-themed reverse, including the quote, “I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading!”. As a polymer issue, it includes multiple security features such as the tilt hologram that changes between “Ten” and “Pounds”, metallic window foils, and raised tactile dot clusters.
This example is graded and encapsulated by PMG as 35 Choice Very Fine. It shows honest circulation wear consistent with the grade while remaining an attractive, PMG-certified example of this modern British classic. The serial number prefix begins AA01.
